Baby Delight Beside Me™ Dreamer Bassinet Review: Who It Fits and Who Should Skip It

From the notebook

Key specs explained

Height Adjustments: 6 positions

The bassinet offers six distinct height settings to align with your adult bed. You adjust this using a side knob, allowing you to match your mattress level for safe, easy access. This range helps ensure the bassinet fits most standard bed heights, reducing the need to reach down or strain your back during nighttime checks or feeding.

Bedside Access: Zip-Down

A zip-down panel provides direct access to your baby when the bassinet is in bedside sleeper mode. You can unzip the side closest to your bed to bring your infant closer for nursing or comfort. This feature allows you to lean over safely without fully lifting the baby out of their sleep space, promoting convenience and security.

Wall Construction: Mesh walls

The sides are constructed from breathable mesh material to promote air circulation around the infant. This design helps maintain a comfortable temperature and supports safety standards by preventing suffocation risks associated with solid fabrics. You benefit from a view into the bassinet while ensuring proper airflow, which is a key consideration when selecting safe sleep environments for newborns.

Modes of Use: Bassinet, Bedside Sleeper

This unit functions primarily as a bedside sleeper that attaches to your adult bed, and as a standalone bassinet. This dual capability allows you to keep your baby close during the night for easy monitoring and feeding. It suits parents who want proximity without sharing a sleep surface, offering flexibility as your baby grows or your sleeping arrangements change.

Design and build details

According to the listing, the Baby Delight Beside Me Dreamer Bassinet is built for bedside use with a focus on airflow and stability. The structure features mesh walls that surround a firm mattress. This construction allows air to circulate freely around your baby while providing a secure, snug environment. The unit is available in the Organic Oat color, though eight color options exist, including Grey, Driftwood Grey, and Organic Sage. You can choose a finish that matches your home decor without compromising on safety features.

The bassinet measures 22.5 inches in width, 36.5 inches in length, and 31 inches in height. It weighs 19 pounds, making it manageable for moving between rooms or adjusting its position. The design includes six height adjustment positions, which you control using a simple side knob. This mechanism allows you to raise or lower the unit to align with most adult beds. Anchors at the bottom secure the bassinet firmly to your bed, ensuring it stays in place during the night.

Assembly is described as tool-free, which simplifies setup. The model number BD05390 identifies this specific variant. The layout supports both bassinet and bedside sleeper modes. The zip-down panel provides full accessibility to your baby for nursing or checking. This design prioritizes practical access and safety, allowing you to keep your baby close while maintaining a comfortable sleeping space.

Setup and daily use guide

Assembly requires no tools, according to the listing. This means you can set up the Baby Delight Beside Me Dreamer Bassinet quickly without searching for screwdrivers or Allen keys. The unit weighs 19 pounds, which is light enough to move between rooms but sturdy enough to remain stable once anchored.

Daily use centers on the six height adjustment positions. You turn a side knob to raise or lower the bassinet. This mechanism allows you to match the height of your adult bed precisely. The listing states this fits most adult beds. Proper height alignment is critical for safe side-sleeping, ensuring the bassinet does not tip or shift during the night.

Access to your baby is handled through a zip-down panel. When the bassinet is in bedside sleeper mode, you unzip the mesh wall closest to your bed. This creates a wide opening for nursing, comforting, or checking on your infant without lifting them out of the bassinet. The mesh walls also provide continuous airflow, which the listing highlights as a key safety feature.

The bassinet anchors to your adult bed using secure bottom anchors. These keep the unit snug and in place, preventing unwanted movement. You can use this setup for any standard adult bed, provided you adjust the height correctly. The design fits into home decor with its Organic Oat color, but its primary function is practical accessibility. You get full reach to your baby while maintaining a secure sleeping environment.

Before you choose

Before You Buy Checklist

Before you buy, consider the full setup. You need a firm, thin crib mattress that fits the 22.5 by 36.5 inch base. The listing specifies a firm mattress for safety, so check dimensions carefully. You also need an adult bed with a frame that allows the anchor system to secure properly. The six height positions help match various bed heights, but you must verify your bed’s height falls within the adjustable range of 31 to 37.3 inches. Cleaning involves wiping the mesh walls and the Organic Oat fabric. This unit sits alongside other strollers and baby gear in our guide, offering a dedicated sleep solution rather than transport. It complements other items by providing a safe, stationary sleep space. Ensure your bedroom layout accommodates the 19-pound weight and the zip-down panel access. This bassinet works best when paired with a compatible adult bed frame and proper anchoring.

Check before you buy

• Verify adult bed height matches the 31 to 37.3 inch range.
• Confirm your crib mattress fits the 22.5 by 36.5 inch base.
• Ensure your bed frame allows secure anchor attachment at the base.
• Check that the 19-pound unit fits your bedroom layout comfortably.
